Set against a dry and textural landscape in northern New Mexico, Mesa House emerges as a sculptural monolith of light, tactility, and restraint.
Drawing from the tonal range of the desert terrain and the agricultural roots of the region, the home is envisioned as a contemporary adobe. Grounded yet refined, humble in form yet elevated in detail.

Replacing an existing structure, the residence introduces a rhythmic composition of planar volumes and voids, arranged to modulate privacy, shadow, and light.
Ochre-colored stucco wraps the interlocking forms, seamlessly integrating the architecture into the muted, sun-drenched landscape. Sharp-edged silhouettes contrast gently with soft desert vegetation and the ever-changing sky.

The design thoughtfully reflects the dual nature of the space—transitioning seamlessly from a bright, casual café atmosphere during the day to an intimate and sophisticated dining and lounge environment at night.
Two elegant, intersecting arches define distinct yet interconnected dining and kitchen areas, creating an open dialogue between culinary creation and guest experience.

The house orients around a central spine that subtly widens and compresses as one moves through. Spatial hierarchy is created through ceiling height variation and shifts in light.
